Ai summary

Compassion Canada asked me to design reusable WordPress landing page templates that partners could quickly customize to promote fundraising and sponsorship. Through user testing and iterative wireframing, I created a flexible, component-based system that prioritizes simplicity, adaptability, and a consistent donor experience.

The problem

Compassion Canada approached me with an idea: create a set of reusable WordPress landing page templates that they could quickly customize for churches and partner organizations to promote their fundraising efforts and/or child sponsorship opportunities. The goal was to streamline setup, reduce design/development time, and ensure a consistent, high-quality experience across all partner pages.

Research & discovery

To understand what these templates needed to support, I first explored:

  • What information churches typically collect
  • How donors and potential sponsors interact with fundraising pages
  • How different layouts influence engagement and conversion
  • I created a series of prototyped layouts and form variations, then sent them to a small group to interact with and provide feedback.

Key findings

From the testing and interviews, a few insights became clear:

  • Simple beats complex. Users preferred a clean, straightforward input field for donation amounts rather than pre-set options.
  • Choice matters. Users wanted an easy way to cycle through different sponsorship options.
  • Flexibility is essential. Project leads required the ability to swap what’s prioritized on a page—donations or sponsorship—depending on campaign goals.
These findings shaped both the component library and the structure of the templates.

Design process

I took the strongest-performing components from the initial low-fidelity explorations and placed them into more complete wireframes. This allowed us to validate how they worked together in context before investing in high-fidelity design.

This stage focused on:

  • Testing content hierarchy
  • Ensuring components were reusable across multiple page types
  • Preparing a scalable structure for development

Final solution

I delivered a modular set of high-fidelity landing page templates that Compassion Canada can reuse and customize in WordPress. The designs allow partners to:

  • Prioritize either donations or sponsorship
  • Swap out components without breaking the layout
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity
  • Launch new pages quickly with minimal support
  • The final templates create a more flexible, user-centered system for Compassion’s partners—helping them tell their story, encourage generosity, and support more children around the world.
